The Hare and Hounds, a community pub in the heart of Grange-Over-Sands, hosted a visit from the Local MP, Tim Farron last week, on Wednesday the 28th of September. The pub is owned by UK’s leading community pub group, Admiral Taverns, and is run by passionate and dedicated licensees, Andrew, and Simon.
Tim Farron, Local MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale commented on the visit:
“I really enjoyed my visit to the Hare and Hounds – it’s a great traditional Lake District pub.
“It had sadly been closed for a while but now under new management it’s is doing a great job serving local ales and decent food set in a beautiful location.
“It was great to meet the team who raised with me concerns that I’m hearing from landlords around our area: excessive and unfair taxation, the lack of a big enough local workforce and energy costs are threatening the future of many of our treasured pubs.”
Commenting on the visit, Greg Beresford, Business Development Manager:
“Andrew and Simon have done a fantastic job at the Hare & Hounds, and it was a real pleasure to show Tim the amazing work they have done to once again put the pub at the heart of the local community. Great pubs like this are under threat from increasing costs and a lack of meaningful support for the hospitality industry overall and Tim was certainly understanding of this. We welcome the support Tim and other MPs can provide in championing the essential role pubs play in their local area and in urging the Government to provide crucial tax relief to support hospitality businesses at this time”
Licensee, Andrew Black commented:
“We were happy to welcome Tim to our country pub, one which he had visited many years ago. It was impressive how knowledgeable Tim was about the pub industry and how well versed he was in our challenges. I was comforted to hear all the work he is doing to help us conquer these challenges – VAT, tariffs, energy, staffing. We look forward to welcoming back again soon, for a meal next time!”.
