The Angel enjoys a prominent position opposite a large and well used local park on Palmerston Road, on the edge of Southampton city centre. The pub is located some 200 metres from Southampton Solent University main campus and the halls of residence are just as close. The pub backs onto a large residential estate, where other drinking establishments are scarce and is also located in very close proximity to Southampton FC home stadium.

Pub Layout

There is a large, open plan trade space on the ground floor which houses a long central bar servery giving ample all round vision and ease of service to all areas of the pub. The open plan layout offers a mixed variety of fixed and loose seating along with another area left available for those preferring to stand. The commercial catering kitchen is well equipped and located on the same level as the main trading area.

Externally, there is a fully enclosed licensed courtyard area which has heating and lighting and also has the benefit of an external projection screen. There is also an abundance of parking facilities nearby, including on road parking to the rear.

The Angel is a wet led Community pub, with a focus on live music and big screen sports. The current licensee has introduced community based activities such as quiz nights, open mic nights and local charity events and has also built up a good working relationship with Southampton FC and the pub is now known as a go to venue for home fans on match days. The local University also has a steady supply of students who frequent the venue and enjoy the regular drinks offers available. There is currently a small food offer available, however there is massive scope to further develop the menu and maximise the use of the well equipped catering kitchen.
