Terri Spratt, Business Development Manager is seeking a experienced, bold, energetic and charismatic operator or couple who thrives in a fast paced environment and knows how to put on a show. You should have a love for live sports a keen understanding of transitioning day to night, and the creativity to deliver a packed calendar of engaging events. You will need to be confident in leading and building a great team, setting high standards, create a pub that is always clean, safe, welcoming and full of atmosphere always, above all you must be obsessed about community and all the great things you can expect comes with being part of that. The pub already has some strong foundations in place, a known name great for sports and live events, and a central location with the right person at the helm, it could be the place to watch the match, party at weekends, relax after work, or soak up the sunshine in the beautiful garden we will create with the new investment. I’m looking for someone dynamic and driven who can match the energy of the town and turn the pub in to the best venue and the chosen pub for local and visitors alike.
The Athelstan Arms has recently benefited from a £420,000 investment, resulting in a full refurbishment of this iconic community pub in Bournemouth. Located on Cranleigh Road in the Tuckton/Southbourne area, the pub sits within a well populated, predominantly suburban residential neighbourhood. The area attracts a diverse mix of families, working professionals and long-standing local residents, making it a true hub for the local community. Conveniently positioned approximately 0.9 miles from Christchurch railway station and around 3 miles from central Bournemouth, the pub is easily accessible for both local customers and visitors. On-site parking, along with ample on street parking nearby, further enhances its convenience and appeal.
Pub Layout
As you arrive at The Athelstan, you’ll enter through the main front doors, stepping directly into the heart of a vibrant and welcoming bar area. To your right, you’ll notice a cosy snug with intimate seating and plenty of character, perfect for quieter drinks or catching up with friends. Moving further in, the central bar stretches around, providing quick service access to all main areas. The main lounge wraps around the front of the building, flooded with natural light from large windows, and furnished with a mixture of comfy chairs and tables. To your left, you’ll find a dedicated games area, complete with pool tables, TV screens, feature darts wall and ample space for socialising. This section offers a more energetic vibe, great for sports fans or a night out. Outside, through one of several doors, you’ll step into the large beer garden, beautifully laid out with seating areas, planters, festoon lighting and shaded spaces under trees and parasols, a great space to keep the atmosphere flowing. The pub also includes staff areas, offices, and ample storage tucked neatly behind the scenes. On site parking is located directly in front of the entrance, whilst getting to The Athelstan Arms on foot is easy and hassle free.
The Athelstan Arms already has some strong foundations in place, a known name for great sports and live events and is generally reviewed as a traditional, community focused pub offering a steady rhythm of the week with karaoke nights, bingo and live music with a buzzing atmosphere, especially on weekends. It’s praised for its friendly staff and welcoming family environment and we encourage this to continue, building on the well established structure in place.
The private accommodation consists of four bedrooms, lounge, dining room, kitchen and bathroom with separate WC all of which will have benefited from redecoration. This is a perfect space for a couple or family.
