The Stag & Pheasant is a great community pub which offers a fantastic range of cask ales and live sports. The pub is located on the outskirts of the town centre towards the secondary retail area approximately a 5 minute walk from the town centre. Carmarthen has a population of approx. 178,000 and Carmarthenshire is known as the “Garden of Wales”. It is opposite the Ivy Bush Hotel which is a popular 3 star hotel in the town.

Pub Layout

As you enter the building, you are greeted with a welcoming open plan area which is balanced with a mixture of fixed and loose seating. It has a traditional feel to the pub with neutral décor, carpeted and wooden flooring. It has a traditional small wooden bar as you enter to the left-hand side where you will find fixed seating and televisions with a gaming machine. This area lends itself to the locals wishing to enjoy sporting matches on evenings and weekends. On the right as you enter is a featured fireplace with some settees making a cosy corner and a welcoming place to relax with a drink. To the rear of the property, there is a secret garden which features several benches and high tables for customers to enjoy and is a very popular spot with the locals during the summer months. This has been completed with Astroturf and heaters to enable use throughout the year.

The Stag and Pheasant currently trades as a drinks ordinated pub with the bar offering a fantastic range of products including cask ales which are popular with the locals. The pub host its own darts team and community events such as charity quizzes and live music is also popular. At present the catering kitchen is not being utilised by the current licensee however there is scope to re-launch a value led food menu which would bring an added income stream to this fantastic pub.
