Derick Cooper, Business Development Manager, is seeking an experienced, community-driven, and sports-focused operator to take on this exciting opportunity. Ideally, applicants will have a proven track record of running a similar style of venue and be locally based, or have previous experience operating pubs within the area. The successful applicant will bring fresh, sales focused ideas to maximise trade during evenings and weekends, while maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for customers. You will be responsible for planning and delivering a strong weekly entertainment schedule, including quiz nights, bingo, karaoke, and live music, ensuring returns are achieved from the weekly entertainment budget. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of the local marketplace, have a genuine passion for community engagement, and possess a solid knowledge of sports to help drive footfall and build customer loyalty.
The Lord Raglan is located in the heart of Halliwell, just 1.5 miles from Bolton town centre, placing it right at the centre of a thriving and well-populated community. With rows of terraced housing nearby, the pub benefits from strong local footfall and a loyal neighbourhood customer base. Positioned on a busy main road, the Lord Raglan is surrounded by everyday amenities including a bank, bakery, takeaways, retail stores, and restaurants, all just a short walk away. The area is also home to three other pubs, creating a popular local circuit that attracts regular drinkers and encourages repeat visits throughout the week.
Pub Layout
The pub boasts a bright, open-plan layout that creates a welcoming and spacious atmosphere throughout. On entering through the front door, the bar is positioned to the right, while the left-hand side features a dedicated pool area with fixed seating and a TV. Moving further into the venue, the space opens up to a comfortable mix of loose and fixed seating, complemented by additional TVs and a well-defined darts area, making it ideal for both casual visits and social gatherings. Towards the rear, a corridor provides access to the toilet facilities and a rear exit leading to the outdoor area. Outside, guests can enjoy four bench tables and a covered smoking shelter, offering a practical and inviting space for customers all year round.
The Lord Raglan benefits from a strong and loyal customer base, with steady trade from its 11am opening and a noticeable uplift in the evenings as locals call in after work. With both SKY Sports and TNT Sports, the pub becomes a real weekend destination, attracting crowds for Bolton matches, Premier League football, and live horse racing. Entertainment continues beyond sport, with a resident DJ bringing Saturday nights to life and live music events hosted once a month, helping to create a vibrant atmosphere and encourage repeat visits.
The private accommodation consists of three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen/dining area, and a bathroom.
