Mark Cleverly, Business Development Manager, is looking for an operator who can establish the Boars Head as a true community hub at the heart of St Helens. Already benefiting from strong footfall, loyal regulars, and excellent indoor and outdoor space, the pub has huge potential to become the go-to local with the right leadership. We’re seeking a self employed operator or couple with energy, personality, and high standards, someone who understands what makes a great wet led community pub thrive: strong presence, great service, consistent activity, and a welcoming atmosphere. The ideal operator will be confident running a busy, sports led pub with regular entertainment, mid-week events, and strong community engagement, both in person and on social media. With the right person at the helm, the Boars Head can continue to grow, strengthen its place in the community, and become a pub people genuinely love.
The Boars Head is located on Elton Head Road, its location right in the heart of a lived in community. This isn’t a pub tucked away on an industrial estate or hidden down a side street, it sits on a busy passing through road, surrounded by established residential housing and close knit neighbourhoods. That means ready made footfall. Locals live just a short walk away, whether they’re popping in for a quick pint after work, meeting friends at the weekend, or calling in during events and match days.
Pub Layout
As you step through the foyer of the Boars Head, you’re immediately greeted by the heart of the pub, the main bar, with the servery to the right serving both the bustling main bar and the cosy second bar/snug. For those seeking a quieter drink, to the left of the main bar, a welcoming seating area provides the perfect retreat which then leads through to the games room, featuring a darts oche and pool table. Throughout the pub, TV screens bring live sports to life, keeping the buzz alive day and night. Step outside and you’ll discover the outstanding beer garden, a true highlight of the Boars Head, perfect for all seasons, with a covered decked area featuring a TV and festoon lighting for socialising in any weather, a spacious paved garden with wooden benches, and a grassed area ideal for events, games, or simply relaxing. More than just a pub, the Boars Head is a community hub with endless potential.
The Boars Head is perfectly positioned to operate as a true community local, with a strong rhythm of the week already in place through quiz nights, bingo, and live entertainment at weekends. There is clear opportunity to build on this solid foundation with additional regular events, themed nights, and charity fundraisers. The pub’s spacious layout, combined with multiple TVs, makes it an ideal venue for watching televised sport. With both Sky and TNT, all major football fixtures are shown alongside horse racing, which is particularly popular with customers. Established pool and darts teams further enhance the pub’s strong sporting appeal.
Accessed directly via the pub, the private accommodation comprises three bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and bathroom.
