Popular community pub, the Simms Road Inn on 523 Garswood Road in Wigan will reopen on Saturday, 14th February following an impressive combined investment of £320,000 from experienced licensee Jack Duffy, his parents Julie and Tony, and Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub company.
This refurbishment will breathe a new lease of life into the Simms Road Inn to elevate and modernise the overall look and feel of the pub – whilst still retaining its original, characterful features such as the two open fireplaces – ultimately enabling the licensees to further cement it as the go-to community hub for local residents.
Internally, the pub has undergone a full refurbishment to include brand new fixtures, fittings, furniture and flooring throughout, a brand new bar and cosy snug area, a new darts board area and four flat screen televisions complete with Sky and TNT Sports to elevate the Simms Road Inn’s atmosphere.
Externally, the Simms Road Inn has been completely revamped to include brand new lighting and signage as well as a fresh coat of paint to greet visitors. In addition, the pub boasts a newly updated, spacious beer garden seating up to 72 people.
Passionate licensee, Jack, along with his parents, bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the pub having grown up in the local area. Jack’s memories of going to the pub as a child mean that the pub holds a special place in their hearts. Going forward the licensees are committed to creating a family-friendly hub that brings people together and supports all aspects of community life.
Jack Duffy, licensee at the Simms Road Inn, commented: “We’re really thrilled with the results of this fantastic investment so far. We look forward to welcoming regular and new customers through the doors this week.
We have loved every minute of our time at the Simms Road Inn so far and I would like to thank everyone, from our family and friends to our customers and of course the team at Admiral Taverns, for all their ongoing support so far. I look forward to everything the future holds for this fantastic community pub!”
Going forward, the pub will be hosting a busy schedule of regular entertainment for the community to enjoy including a quiz night every Wednesday at 7.30pm and live music once a month on a Saturday beginning at 8pm. In addition, as part of their mission to give back to the local community, they will also be organising a charity walk in early May for Williams Syndrome Foundation, a charity that focuses on supporting families with Williams Syndrome.
Following the refurbishment, the pub will host an impressive range of premium drinks including Guinness, Peroni, Cruzcampo, Birra Moretti and much more. To ensure there is something for everyone, the pub will also offer a delicious selection of cocktails, including Sex on the Beach, Blue Lagoon, Tequila Sunrise, and Aperol Spritz. Drink offers will include any two cocktails for £12 and a ‘Fizz Friday’ prosecco deal where customers can receive a bottle of prosecco for £12 from 5-7pm on a Friday.
Simms Road Inn will introduce a delicious food menu including traditional pub favourites such as braised steak, homemade pies, fish and chips and more. The pub will also provide sharing platters for customers every day of the week, with a selection of fried mushrooms, garlic bread, prawns, chicken goujons and chilli nachos.
The pub is owned by Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub company with c. 1,350 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
Ashleigh Kirk, Business Development Manager at Admiral Taverns, added: “Jack, Tony and Julie have brought a real passion and dedication to the pub since taking it over and they have built a strong community focused local that I am sure residents will enjoy.
On behalf of myself and everyone at Admiral Taverns, I wish them and the entire team at the Simms Road Inn the best of luck in the future.”
