The Lodge on Cheetham Hill in Dukinfield reopened last Thursday 23rd October following a phenomenal investment of nearly £245,000. The pub is part of Proper Pubs, the award-winning community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 220 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
Inside, The Lodge has been completely transformed to breathe a new lease of life into the pub, enhancing the overall offering and creating a more inviting atmosphere. Thanks to the investment, The Lodge features a newly revamped bar area complete with brand new flooring, furniture, fixtures and fittings throughout as well as a separate, dedicated games room to upgrade the sports viewing experience. On top of a state-of-the-art television screen complete with Sky Sports, TNT and horse racing, the sports room also hosts a brand new pool table and darts board for those seeking a little bit of friendly competition.
Externally, The Lodge boasts brand new lighting and signage to greet guests as well as a refreshed outdoor area, seating between 100-120 people. As part of the refurbishment, the beer garden has also received a new outdoor television, an upgraded covered area with a pergola, decked flooring and festoon lighting.
The pub reopened at 5pm on Thursday 23rd October and to celebrate hosted a live performance from fantastic rock guitarist and vocalist, Ryan Gilmour.
The Lodge offers a wide range of drinks promotions, including Wine Wednesday, where customers can get £2 off a bottle, Fizz Friday, offering customers a bottle of fizz for £10, along with cocktails, bottle and shot deals throughout the week.
Nataliya Denson, Operator of The Lodge, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have taken over The Lodge and it was amazing to welcome customers, both old and new, back last week to show off its amazing new look. It’s such a brilliant community pub and this refurbishment is exactly what it needed to ensure it can remain at the heart of Dukinfield for many years to come.
I’d like to thank the team at Proper Pubs for their support throughout this journey and I can’t wait for what the future holds for The Lodge.”
In addition, The Lodge will host busy schedule of entertainment to further bring the community together including weekly craft fairs, live music, pool, darts and domino’s evenings as well as bingo and quiz nights. Moving forward, Nataliya hopes to run regular fundraising events in support a wide array of important community causes, including the local schools.
Nikki Greenhalgh, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, said: “It’s a real pleasure to welcome Nataliya to The Lodge and I’m delighted that we have been able to work together to bring our joint vision for the pub to life. Her passion for the community, combined with her impressive experience within the pub sector, is sure to enable her and the team to create a fantastic community pillar that can be enjoyed by everyone. I wish her all the very best for the future!”
Proper Pubs is always looking for ways to support its communities through an annual schedule of events and fundraising initiatives and in March 2024, it was crowned Community Pub Operator at the Publican Awards.
Most recently, the Group collected over 20,000 Easter Eggs to donate to communities in need and raised nearly £100,000 in just three months for various local charities across the UK. Last year, Proper Pubs also successfully donated enough food to local foodbanks across the UK to feed 1,300 people for a week and has also been recognised UK-wide defibrillator installation campaign which has already saved 11 lives.
