Southampton Community Pub Reopens Following Transformational Refurbishment

Popular community pub, the Temple Bar on Shirley Street in Southampton, will officially reopen on Friday 27th March following a transformational combined investment of £123,000 from experienced licensee, Roy Barrett and Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub company.

This refurbishment will breathe a new lease of life into the Temple Bar to elevate and modernise the overall look and feel of the pub – whilst still retaining it’s original, characterful features such as the two open fireplaces – ultimately enabling the licensee to further cement it as the go-to community hub for local residents.

Internally, the pub has completely undergone a full refurbishment to include brand new fixtures, fittings, and flooring throughout, a brand new bar area,  games area and cosy snug area. The games area includes two brand-new dart boards and pool table.  The pub is also fitted with four  52 inch flat screen televisions and two 32 inch televisions for customers to enjoy.

Externally, the Temple Bar has been completely revamped to include brand new lighting and signage along with a fresh coat of paint to greet customers. In addition  the pub boasts a newly updated, spacious beer garden that seats between 18-20 people.

Passionate licensee Roy Barrett brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the pub having 15 years of hospitality experience under his belt. He is committed to creating a dog-friendly and family-friendly hub that brings people together and supports all aspects of community life.

Roy Barrett, licensee at the Temple Bar, commented: “I’m really thrilled with the results of this fantastic investment so far. I  look forward to welcoming regular and new customers through the doors again!”

I would like to thank everyone, from our family and friends and of course the team at Admiral Taverns, for all their ongoing support so far. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this fantastic community pub!

After opening, Roy will be hosting a busy schedule of regular entertainment for the community to enjoy including live music, karaoke and raffles. Karaoke will be every Friday from 8-11pm while live music will be held every Saturday from 8-11pm. In addition, a Sunday family fun day will happen every Sunday from 2-6pm where customers have a chance to do karaoke and dance. A meat raffle will also happen during the Sunday family fun day where tickets cost £1 for 5 tickets, including a selection of meats  up for grabs.  In addition, as part of his mission to give back to the local community, he will also be hosting regular fundraising events/community initiatives in the future to raise money for local mental health charities.

Following the refurbishment, the pub will host an impressive range of drinks including an extensive premium drinks range from Carling, to Guinness, Fosters, Stella Artois and more.

The pub is owned by Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub company with c. 1,365 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

Nick Lawson, Business Development Manager at Admiral Taverns, added: “Roy and the team bring a real passion and dedication to the pub, and have a lot of exciting plans for the pubs future.

On behalf of myself and everyone at Admiral Taverns, I wish them and the entire team at the Temple Bar the best of luck in the future.
