Hull Community Pub Reopens Following Transformational £270,000 Refurbishment

Popular community pub, the Rampant Horse on Hall Road in Hull, officially reopened on Friday 28th November following a transformational combined investment of £270,000 from licensees, Glenn Wright and Graham Lee, and Admiral Taverns – the UK’s leading community pub company.

This refurbishment has breathed a new lease of life into the Rampant Horse, elevating and modernising the overall look and feel of the pub whilst still retaining its original, characterful features such as its traditional wooden flooring. Thanks to the investment, the licensees have been able to create a go-to social hub for local residents to enjoy, further cementing it at the heart of the community.

Internally, the pub has received a full refurbishment with brand new fixtures, fittings, furniture and carpet in the newly renovated cosy snug area. The pub also includes a brand-new bar area and games room where customers can come together to relax and socialise. In addition, the Rampant Horse boasts three 60-inch and one 50-inch flat screen televisions for sports fans to enjoy.

Externally, the Rampant Horse has been completely revamped to include brand new lighting and signage to greet visitors as well as an enhanced beer garden seating more than 15 people.

Passionate licensees, Glenn and Graham, have been at the helm of the pub since 2024, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the pub having both grown up in the local area and having been regular customers at the pub for many years previously. With strong ties to the local area and a deep-rooted understanding of the community, the licensees are committed to creating a family-friendly hub that welcomes everyone with open arms and supports all aspects of community life.

Graham Lee, licensee at the Rampant Horse, commented: “We’re absolutely delighted with the results of this terrific investment and opening night was a huge success! We loved welcoming customers back, both old and new, to show off the pub’s brand-new look and everything it has to offer.”

We have really enjoyed our time at the Rampant Horse so far and I would like to thank everyone, from our family and friends to our customers, team and of course Admiral Taverns, for all their ongoing  support over the past year. We look forward to everything the future holds for this fabulous community pub!”

Going forward, Glenn and Graham  will be hosting a busy schedule of regular entertainment to continue bringing  the community together,  including  live music  on Saturdays, a social club on Fridays from 2pm for those facing loneliness and a  ‘Sunday Funday’ event with bingo and a raffle every week from 2pm. Moving forward, the licensees hope to set up a pool and darts team, as well as introduce weekly quiz  nights.

As part of their mission to giving back to the local community, Glenn and Graham will also be hosting regular fundraising events and community initiatives in aid of local mental health charity, Andy’s Man Club.

Following the refurbishment, the pub will host an impressive range of drinks including an extensive portfolio of cask ales and premium draught lagers such as Stella Artois, Guinness, Carling, John Smith’s and Foster’s.

The pub is owned by Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub company with c. 1,350  pubs  across England, Scotland and Wales.

Craig Kennedy, Business Development Manager at Admiral Taverns, added: “Glenn and Graham  have  brought real  passion and dedication to the Rampant Horse since taking it over, and  they have built a strong, community-focused pub that will continue to be enjoyed by local residents for many years to come.

It’s been a joy working with them to bring their vision for the pub to life and on behalf of myself and everyone at Admiral Taverns, I wish  Glenn, Graham and the whole team  at  the  Rampant Horse  the  very  best  for  the  future.”
