COVENTRY COMMUNITY PUB REOPENS FOLLOWING ALMOST £380,000 MAKEOVER
The Hastings on 41 Clay Lane in Coventry reopened on Friday 1st August following a phenomenal investment of almost £380,000. The pub is part of Proper Pubs, the award-winning community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
Inside, The Hastings has been completely transformed with a brand new layout to give the pub a better, more spacious, flow throughout. Previously, the pub consisted of two separate rooms which, as a result of the investment, have been merged. This has created one large, open plan space punctuated with a central bar and finished with brand new furniture, flooring, fixtures and fittings. To complete the interior refurbishment, the pub now features six flat screen televisions – with Sky Sports, TNT and horse racing channels – as well as an interactive dart board and pool table.
Outside, The Hastings now boasts brand new lighting and signage to greet customers along with a newly revamped beer garden seating over 100 people. The outdoor area also features new wooden benches, two heaters, a pergola and a 65 inch external television screen so that sports fans can watch their team play from the comfort of the garden.
The pub officially reopened at Friday 1st August and celebrated with an evening of live entertainment and a DJ set.
The Hastings offers a wide range of drinks promotions, including Wine Wednesday, where customers can get £2 off a bottle, Fizz Friday, offering customers a bottle of fizz for £10, along with cocktails, bottle and shot deals throughout the week.

On top of the fantastic drinks selection, The Hastings hosts a busy schedule of entertainment for customers to enjoy including regular live music, quiz nights and bingo evenings. Going forward, Stuart is also hoping to support several community initiatives and will start by fundraising to have a lifesaving defibrillator installed at the pub and collecting food to donate to the local foodbank. He is also hoping to support several local charities close to his heart such as Myton Hospice.

Proper Pubs is always looking for ways to support its communities through an annual schedule of events and fundraising initiatives and in March 2024, it was crowned Community Pub Operator at the Publican Awards.
Most recently, the Group collected over 20,000 Easter Eggs to donate to communities in need and raised nearly £100,000 in just three months for various local charities across the UK. Last year, Proper Pubs also successfully donated enough food to local foodbanks across the UK to feed 1,300 people for a week and has also been recognised UK-wide defibrillator installation campaign which has already saved 11 lives.
