The Talbot is located in the affluent market town of Stone in Staffordshire. Located in a pleasant suburb only a short walk from the busy town centre; the pub is directly opposite the entrance drive to Stone railway station alongside a level crossing. This is a high employment area with local residents working in the town or commuting to the employment centres of Stafford, Stoke on Trent and Uttoxeter (world headquarters of JCB). The majority of the housing in this part of Stone is owner occupied, there is a mix of Victorian era terrace housing and more recent 20th century developments.

Trading style

This is a true community local with customers arriving on foot and by train. The customer base here are looking to meet up with their friends and neighbours for drinks and to participate in pub activities. Currently the pub has the following of two darts teams, a pool team and hosts regular events such as quiz nights. At present two cask ales are on offer and there is potential here to develop further. Admiral Taverns are looking for an individual or couple with the ability to be visible and welcoming to an existing loyal customer base. Some catering skills or the ability to gain skills would again be welcome. Admiral Taverns are looking to carry out a refurbishment at the Talbot to create the best pub in Stone. This will include exterior signage, lighting and decoration and internal decoration as well as an upgrade to the catering kitchen allowing the new licensee to introduce a food offer.

Trade accommodation

The pub has two distinct trading areas though the building does have an open plan aspect which is useful for keeping staff costs down. A central bar serves the bar area which can seat up to 30 and also contains the pool table, darts okkes, games machines and TVs. The large lounge can seat up to 45 and can also be used for functions and parties. The ladies toilets are located in this area. Off the lounge is a catering kitchen which is unused at present. Outside is a courtyard which leads to the gents toilets as well as a disabled toilet and a substantial smoking solution offering excellent levels of cover. The condition of the pub is very good throughout with a good standard of décor and furnishing and has been maintained well by the present operator.

The accommodation here is large and spacious and again is in good condition. There are three double bedrooms and an office that could serve as a single bedroom if needed. A good sized living room compliments a spacious bathroom and kitchen.
