Booker food presentation events go down a treat

by admin 3/4/2011 12:02:00 PM

We’re celebrating after completing another successful series of food presentation events in partnership with Booker wholesale.

We visited Cardiff, Tottenham, Cambridge, Derby, Kingswinford, Barnsley, Haydock and Chester during the course of the last two months, giving Admiral Taverns landlords the chance to get help and advice on increasing sales and footfall through their food offering.

We hope everything that our landlords learned will allow them to grow their pub business, whether it’s simply by introducing bar snacks or by giving their entire menu an overhaul.

Profitable pub roast ideas from the Morning Advertiser

by admin 3/1/2011 1:38:00 PM

Traditional roasts have long been a pub food favourite, and landlords can ensure their pub is packed out on a Sunday afternoon by offering its customers something a little different, says the Morning Advertiser.

In its latest article, the MA highlights a number of pubs that are thinking outside the box when it comes to Sunday serving.

Whether it’s offering entirely organic options, the chance for indecisive customers to enjoy all meats on the menu for an extra cost or even allowing bigger parties to ‘host’ their own roast, carving their own meat at the table, these pubs are ahead of the curve when it comes to satisfying their customers’ appetites.

New management team spices up the Battersea Bar

by admin 10/19/2010 11:56:00 AM

Admiral Taverns' Carlos Wilson and his partner Sandra have been at the Battersea Bar for just under a year and the couple have transformed the pub into a vibrant live music destination that’s also known for its top quality food.

Carlos, who formerly ran his own takeaway, mans the kitchen at the pub, serving up tasty Caribbean food as well as a range of traditional English dishes.

The pub is also becoming increasingly popular due to the diverse range of entertainment on offer, which includes regular pool tournaments, open mic nights, Reggae and R&B club nights and barbeques.

Winter warmers on the up, says The Publican

by admin 10/5/2010 12:00:00 PM

As winter closes in fast, Britons are turning to pub food for comfort, according to The Publican.

Traditional dishes, such as pie, burgers and warm puddings with custard, are making a major comeback as customers look to pick up nostalgic ‘mood food’ that won’t break the bank.

Landlords looking to revamp their menu could try giving these old favourites a modern twist; using fresh ingredients and thinking about appealing presentation options can update these familiar favourites.

Read the full article on The Publican website for more advice; Admiral Taverns landlords can contact the Mypubfood team for further hints and tips.

Admiral Taverns’ pubs with a strong food offering should think about entering themselves into the upcoming Great British Pub Food Awards 2011.

A shortlist of finalists will be selected following a paper judging by a panel of industry experts, and successful finalists are then invited to battle it out at category cook-offs which will take place in January. Categories include Young Pub Chef, Seafood, Curry, Pie and Fish & Chips.

To register for an entry form, contact Sue Selby on sue.selby@william-reed.co.uk or call 01293 610238. For more information, see the Great British Pub Food Awards website.

Football food

by admin 5/13/2010 4:08:00 PM

We’ve already reported on what a boost the World Cup will be for pub profits, and provided landlords with some advice on preparing their pub for the summer of sport.

And now, with the kick off now tantalisingly close, we want to share some tips on how best to cater for hungry footie fans.

Sharing platters of finger food are a great way to satisfy their appetite without forcing them to take their eyes off the game for too long. Keep things interesting by offering a few different selections – Tex Mex, Chinese, or Hot and Spicy are good starting points for themes - and ensure the platters look appealing by choosing a mixture of food in different colours and shapes.

Make sure that all of the food is easy to prepare and can be cooked as quick as possible to make the most of half time munchies and don’t forget about desserts – pudding platters can work really well too.

For further advice, Admiral Taverns landlords can speak to the Mypubfood team.

Get a slice of the pie

by admin 2/12/2010 11:01:00 AM

Following on from the recent blog post about Admiral’s successful food events (see below), we thought we’d offer a little extra food advice to our landlords.

British Pie Week is coming up, and getting involved with the event could really drive sales at your pub.

Starting on 1 March, this event offers a great opportunity for pubs to plan ‘pie and pint’ deals, theme nights or a special pie-themed menu.

If you’d like to find out more about how Admiral are helping their landlords make the most of their food offering, visit the My Pub Food website or call the Admiral Taverns food team on 0844 800 6671.

Admiral Taverns landlords have been learning about the benefits of offering food to increase their sales and footfall at special events held in partnership with Booker wholesale, the UK’s leading food wholesaler.

The events, held at Booker branches in the South West, gave landlords the chance to meet with the expert Admiral Food Team who provided useful help and advice about how to start food from simple bar snacks through to five course menus.

Due to the success of the events, Admiral will be holding 14 more events across the rest of the UK in the New Year.  Any landlord who would like to attend one of the events or find out more information, can contact the Admiral Taverns food team on 0844 800 6671.

The landlords at The Fox & Hounds in Waterlooville are delighted that they will soon get the chance to flex their culinary muscles.
