National Cask Ale Week

by admin 3/30/2010 12:01:00 PM

It’s National Cask Ale Week, so we’re reminding our landlords of the benefits of stocking real ales.

The Cask Report recently revealed that sales of cask ales are growing, and, as we reported earlier in the year, Cask Marque have introduced a Sat Nav and text message service to make it easier for real ale fans to track down their favourite tipples.

CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) ran a groundbreaking live tasting on Twitter last night to mark the occasion, and a wide range of pubs across the UK, including a number of Admiral Taverns pubs, are marking National Cask Ale Week with special events and offers.

Visit The Cask Ale Week website to find your nearest real ale pub and celebrate National Cask Ale Week with a pint or two.

Here comes the sun...

by admin 3/26/2010 12:07:00 PM

It might be hard to believe given that most of the country has been deluged with rain for the past week, but Positive Weather Solutions (PWS) claim we’re set for a barbecue summer.

PWS say that the average temperatures for June, July and August will be higher than 1976, the UK’s hottest summer on record.

And, with Wimbledon and the World Cup coming up, customers will be looking to enjoy the sunshine and sports coverage in their local.

We’re encouraging our landlords to start thinking about how they’ll make the most of this sunny weather – outdoor community events are a great way to boost sales and grow your customer base.

Take a look at the relevant sections of our website to find out more about our Promotions and how Mypubfood can help you plan and market your summer events.

Expo success

by admin 3/23/2010 12:44:00 PM

We’d like to thank the organisers behind the Food & Drink Expo 2010 in Birmingham, which the Admiral team have been exhibiting at for the past four days.

The event is the largest UK food and drink trade exhibition, bringing together all sectors of the food and drink market - retail, foodservice, wholesale and manufacturing.

It’s been great to get out there and share ideas with others in the food and drink trade and it’s been a very helpful event that’s allowed us to get up to speed on the latest goings on in our industry.

Thanks also to all those who paid a visit to our stand – hopefully we were able to provide you with some useful insights in to the work that Admiral does.

To find out about the latest events Admiral are attending, take a look at our Events section.

On the lookout

by admin 3/19/2010 12:49:00 PM

National Pubwatch, the body that supports grassroots pubwatches that aim to keep UK pubs trouble-free, is looking for new members from within the pub industry.

The voluntary organisation wants more licensees to get involved by working with them at a regional level.

At Admiral, we’re committed to creating a safer social drinking environment around our pubs, so we’re encouraging any of our landlords who are interested in helping out to get in touch with National Pubwatch.

For details on how to get involved, email admin@nationalpubwatch.org.uk. To find out more about on how we’re helping our landlords improve their knowledge of the pub industry, visit our training section.

Muswell Hill pub on the up

by admin 3/16/2010 11:50:00 AM

Sadie Harding, who has been at The Alexandra Arms pub in Muswell Hill for the past five months, is proving that good community pubs are continuing to thrive.

Sadie has worked in pubs in the Greater London area for many years, and is now encouraging anyone thinking about crossing sides of the bar to take the plunge.

Sadie said: “I learned the ropes by working in the family’s pubs throughout the years, but I always hoped that one day I would be able to run my own.

“I’ve found that the most important thing when it comes to being a landlord is to know the basics, keep track of what your customers want and make the effort to keep things fresh and interesting – it’s certainly served me well.”

If you’d like to find out more about running your own pub, get in touch with our recruitment team.

What a drama!

by admin 3/12/2010 1:42:00 PM

The media would often have you believe that pubs and the people who run them are dying breeds, but the nations’ favourite soaps seem to disagree.

All three of the most popular dramas on TV – Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Eastenders - are built around events taking place in their pubs; The Rovers Return, The Woolpack and The Queen Vic provide the social fabric that binds the characters and stories in each episode.

Is this a case of art imitating life? We think so. Historically, pubs have been an essential part of the British way of life, adapting and evolving to cope with the industry’s challenges. We are proud that the Admiral Taverns estate predominantly consists of community locals, some of them very similar to those we see in the soaps.

If you’d like to become an Admiral Taverns’ landlord, have a look at out pubs to rent section.

World’s Biggest Pub Quiz

by admin 3/9/2010 1:53:00 PM

We’re supporting The Family Holiday's Association upcoming World’s Biggest Pub Quiz event by encouraging our landlords and customers to get involved.

The charity is organising the nationwide event on Thursday 25 March 2010 to raise funds for their vital work with young families.

If you’re a landlord who wants to arrange your own quiz, then simply go to the website to find out how to set up your own event; you’ll raise much needed funds for the charity and hopefully attract some extra custom to your pub, plus quiz organisers get the chance to win great prizes.

If you’re a punter looking for a local quiz to participate in, you can also search to find the nearest.

Landlords can also take a look at our Licensee support section to discover other entertainment ideas for their pub.

Hyde Tavern’s different approach proving popular

by admin 3/5/2010 11:09:00 AM

Our latest Admiral Taverns Achievement Award winner Janet Theodore of The Hyde Tavern has caught the attention of both the local press and pub trade publications.

Janet’s creatively-drive approach to running her pub has meant she’s been featured in both the Hampshire Chronicle and the Southern Daily Echo (see below) and even had a mention in pub trade publication the Morning Advertiser as part of their feature on unique ways to drive sales.

If you’re full of ideas and would like to become a landlord, tale a look at our pubs to rent section.

Landlords get chance to win pool refit

by admin 3/2/2010 5:11:00 PM

We're always keen to help our landlords improve their pubs, so we're backing Fosters' fantastic new competition where pubs can win a complete pool refit.

100 pubs will win pool lights, re-baise, pool ball set, cue holder, a branded pool clock, pint glass holders and drip mats.

With the Admiral Taverns' Poll & Darts Championship coming up later in the year, this gives our landlords the chance to revamp their games area and benefit both their pool team and their customers.

To enter the Fosters competition, all landlords need to do is email pooldrive@fosters.co.uk telling Fosters why pool is so important for their pub, along with photos of thier pool area (terms and conditions apply). More information can be found on The Publican website.
