The Shakespeare is a large pub situated in a densely populated community with local amenities near by. The popular Brickfields sports centre is only a short walk away. Plymouth is a popular port city in Devon known for its maritime heritage which is popular with visiting tourists.
On entry to the pub you are presented with a horseshoe shaped bar in the centre of the trading area, the internal decoration of the pub is traditional in style and is a mixture of fixed and ancillary furniture. To the rear of the bar there is space for a catering kitchen that has been used as such in the past, this will require some work to get back into operation. To the rear of the property there is a small courtyard that is utilised as a smoking area. There are letting rooms here, however there are some compliance works required and Admiral Taverns are investigating the feasibility of making these compliant in conjunction with local authorities.
Trading style for this pub is as a community local on a drink only basis, however as previously mentioned there may well be an opportunity for food at a later stage,. There are also a number of darts teams that use the pub creating additional income for the pub on quieter evenings.
This pub has letting rooms and they are being let on a weekly basis to local contractors, this provides a healthy income for any potential licensee however as previously stated there are works to be made in order to make these rooms compliant with Fire Safety which is in the process of being addressed.
