Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub group, recently voted Tenanted Pub Company of the Year*, is delighted to announce that following a major £180,000 renovation project, The New Inn, has reopened.

Led by licensees Suzie Fletcher and Charlie Stewart, a complete renovation of the New Inn was undertaken to restore it to its former glory. The pub has had a complete makeover following a significant investment by Admiral Taverns. As part of the new look, the pub has utilised the full extent of the trading area by creating a warm and cosy place to relax with the addition of a log burning fire. A brand new bar, which is far easier to operate and manoeuvre around, has been installed in the middle of the pub to bring the two trading rooms of the pub together creating a more inviting environment.  The pub was built in 1890 and although it has been refurbished, the New Inn has retained its original rustic and down to earth finish.

Admiral’s investment has allowed both Suzie and Charlie to embark on what has been an extremely personal journey to restore a beautiful old pub, that is home to many local clubs, into a pub which can now proudly play host to the entire community and for nearby visitors walking in the Bluebell Woods. With Suzie’s 20 year experience, she understands what locals want from the pub and with her being the head chef, she is able to provide customers with cask ales and food that is locally sourced.

The New Inn, which is has won CAMRA Pub of the Season for the last two seasons, is a fantastic meeting point for many of the local clubs and serves as a great pit-stop for walkers passing by.

Commenting on the opening, Suzie Fletcher, head chef and licensee said, “Renovating the New Inn, which is a beautiful, traditional pub, is all about creating something that Shrawley and the local community can be proud of. Admiral Taverns have shared my vision from the start and it’s been their support and passion for the project that has made it all possible.

Alison Martinez, Business Development Manager, Admiral Taverns also commented, “Admiral Taverns believes in local pubs being at the heart of the community they serve.  In Suzie and Charlie, we have found a wonderful duo who have real drive, and a passion and commitment to offer the community what it needs and deserves.

The journey with them since taking the pub has been one of a shared vision, and I’m delighted that Admiral Taverns have been able to invest in the New Inn, with Suzie and Charlie at the helm leading this vision and delivering a much loved pub.

“At Admiral, we are committed to supporting great community pubs and the dedicated entrepreneurial licensees who run them.”

The pub reopened on Friday 11thof November.
