Trading style

The White Lion is a busy community pub. There is a full selection of cask ales, wines and spirits along with soft drinks for the non-drinkers. The pub has a thriving and electric atmosphere that makes it a popular watering hole for all members of the local community. To accommodate customers who smoke there is a large beer garden situated at the rear of the pub, which is also a great place to sit with a relaxing drink during the summer months. To keep everyone amused there is also a juke box and dart board on the premises. With live music most weekends along with festivals held yearly and quiz nights the first Sunday of the month. The White Lion has a diverse offer – and has gained an enviable reputation for good quality ale, a warm welcome and a fantastic entertainment schedule. Currently the pub offers sandwiches and pies throughout the week and is very popular for Sunday roasts. Admiral Taverns is looking for applicants who are passionate about cask ale and can match this with cellar skills. Catering skills will also be a distinct advantage. The outlet has a good following for entertainment so organisation and social media skills are desirable too.

Trade accommodation

The pub has a traditional two room layout with a central bar that serves both rooms. The high ceilings give an airy feel whilst fixtures and fittings and décor are all in good order. The bar benefits from extensive deep buttoned fixed seating located to the right with a darts okke. This room lends itself to conversation and pub games. There is an impressive back bar and equipped catering kitchen located behind the bar. The lounge is located to the left and is equally as large with a softer feel with mostly loose seating with both carpeting and wooden flooring. Access to the garden is through French doors and can be accessed from the lounge. To the rear of the pub is a substantial smoking shelter that leads to a good sized lawned area with benches. Although there is no car parking, there is plenty of street parking close by.

The private accommodation is in good order with five good sized bedrooms, living room, bathroom and large kitchen/diner. There are further rooms on the second floor that are not utilised at present.
