The Castle has an excellent position on the busy A51 between Rugeley and Lichfield. The pub has a large footprint and frontage and is highly visible-drivers on this road cannot help but notice this pub. Rugeley has a history connected with coal mining and power generation. These days there are resurgent industries on The Power Station industrial estate and the Towers Business Park. Of note is the large Amazon fulfilment facility employing around 900.

Trading style

The Castle trades as two different styles of outlet within one site. There is a traditional bar trade that is well supported by teams including darts, dominoes, crib and pool. Sky Sports is part of the offer in the bar. In the equally large lounge a carvery style food offer is the draw. Currently the carvery runs throughout the day between 12pm through to 3pm from Sunday to Friday. A delivery service is also in operation delivering to local OAP’s and other customers in the area. All in all The Castle has a varied offer catering for many segments of trade. Admiral Taverns are looking for applicants who are confident of taking over this established large outlet and who can maintain the catering element although not necessarily the current carvery offer. This site would suit experienced operators or a multiple wishing to add to their estate. The site has a growing wet trade and this can be built along with the food offer.

Trade accommodation

This is a two room operation each with its own dedicated servery and entrance. The bar has hard flooring with fixed and loose seating for 50+ covers. In the bar, you will find a pool table, darts throw, fruit machines, boxing machine and large TVs. The lounge has both hard and carpeted floor areas with fixed and loose furniture accommodating for up to 36 covers. Located here is the display carvery unit. The fixtures and fittings are in reasonable order however the interior decoration may need upgrading to suit the new licensee. There is a large fully equipped catering kitchen located to the rear of the pub. Externally there is a large car park for 20+ cars with overspill parking areas. A smoking shelter fronts the road and to one side is a pleasant beer garden with further smoking shelter and children’s play area.
