The Bay Mare in Astley Bridge is situated on the A666 which links Blackburn to Bolton. The pub is an end of terrace, listed building which is surrounded by housing and small businesses Astley Bridge is a suburb of Bolton, approximately two miles from the town centre.

Trading style

The Bay Mare has a friendly and welcoming feel, it is very much at the hub of the community and is the base for many sports teams; there is a darts team, two pool teams, a dominoes team and a rounders team. Cask ale is a key area and there are currently two hand pumps, which could be expanded. Karaoke and quiz nights are enjoyed fortnightly and there is potential to further develop the entertainment programme. We are looking for potential licensees who are familiar with the area and are enthusiastic and passionate about the local community. They will need to have a strong vision for the pub and will look to introduce a ‘rhythm of the week’ entertainment offer in order to entice the locals in.

Trade accommodation

On entering through the front door, you are welcomed into the lounge with seating for up to 40 covers. This area also hosts two gaming machines and the ladies and gents toilets. The bar servery is centrally located and offers a wide selection of drinks; this is often where the regulars gather. There are TV screens located in the pub, it offers SKY and BT sport and this is popular with the locals. To the rear of the pub is a pool room and darts okke. Although there is no catering kitchen, there is an opportunity to introduce a small back bar food offer. Externally is an enclosed yard with benches and outside TVs.
