Swansea landlords celebrate awards success

by admin 1/21/2011 2:06:00 PM

Mark and Sarah Crabbe of The Pilot of Mumbles pub in Mumbles, Swansea are the latest Admiral Taverns’ landlord to receive our achievement award.

Both Mark and Sarah have worked in the hospitality industry for many years and it has been a long-held ambition of theirs to run their own pub.

The Pilot of Mumbles has gone from strength to strength under the couple’s leadership over the last two years, even recently receiving a write up in The Sunday Times as part of an article highlighting the UK’s most sociable drinking destinations.

Budding landlord wanted for Llanymynech pub to let

by admin 11/19/2010 11:40:00 AM

A trio of Admiral landlords are looking to pass their much loved local on to a budding publican.

Stewart Ellams and Jamie and Jackie Williams have been running The Horseshoe Inn, Llanymynech, Powys on a temporary basis alongside their Achievement Award-winning pub, The White Horse in Churton, for several months (you can read about their award win in a previous blog).

Stewart says: “The Horseshoe Inn really is a great pub, and we’ll be sorry to leave. Unfortunately, we no longer feel we can continue to run both of our pubs simultaneously, and would like to pass the reigns at the Horseshoe to someone else with a real passion for pubs.”

The Horseshoe Inn is well positioned between Welshpool and Oswestry, in a roadside location right on the tourist route. The pub has a beer garden and children’s play area, and letting rooms that could be developed further.

It's your round

by admin 5/11/2010 3:54:00 PM

A recent survey has revealed the drinking habits of the nation, and it’s all good news for the pub trade.

The survey by OnePoll found that the average drinker spends £39,480 buying rounds for friends and family during their lifetime; that equates to an average of £840 a year.

These impressively huge figures are proof that the pub industry is still going strong and that running a pub can be a great business opportunity. If you’d like to find out more, contact our recruitment team or have a look at our pubs to let.

Muswell Hill pub on the up

by admin 3/16/2010 11:50:00 AM

Sadie Harding, who has been at The Alexandra Arms pub in Muswell Hill for the past five months, is proving that good community pubs are continuing to thrive.

Sadie has worked in pubs in the Greater London area for many years, and is now encouraging anyone thinking about crossing sides of the bar to take the plunge.

Sadie said: “I learned the ropes by working in the family’s pubs throughout the years, but I always hoped that one day I would be able to run my own.

“I’ve found that the most important thing when it comes to being a landlord is to know the basics, keep track of what your customers want and make the effort to keep things fresh and interesting – it’s certainly served me well.”
