Admiral becomes corporate member of Cask Marque

by admin 2/1/2011 2:20:00 PM

We’ve underlined our commitment to promoting and maintaining beer quality by becoming a corporate member of Cask Marque, the leading cask ale accreditation scheme.

Cask Marque is an independent, non-profit making organisation formed to improve the quality of cask ale in pubs. It presents Cask Marque Awards to licensees who serve great quality cask ale and almost 7,000 licensees already hold the award. Cask ales offer pubs a compelling point of difference from drinking from home because it can’t be replicated in the off-trade. It’s going to play an increasing role in our business and is something we’re committed to supporting.

How to get a Cask Marque Award

To gain an award you will have to pass two unannounced visits from qualified assessors who will test all cask ales on temperature, aroma, appearance and taste. If you pass both inspections, you will gain the award and be promoted by Cask Marque.

The benefits

- Your pub will be listed on www.cask-marque.co.uk with a link to your website.

- If you’re in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide a Cask Marque logo will appear at the side of your entry.

- Your pub will be listed on Cask Marque’s text messaging service which gives customers the names of the two nearest Cask Marque outlets for any town or postcode.

Carlos, who formerly ran his own takeaway, mans the kitchen at the pub, serving up tasty Caribbean food as well as a range of traditional English dishes.

The pub is also becoming increasingly popular due to the diverse range of entertainment on offer, which includes regular pool tournaments, open mic nights, Reggae and R&B club nights and barbeques.

It's your round

by admin 5/11/2010 3:54:00 PM

A recent survey has revealed the drinking habits of the nation, and it’s all good news for the pub trade.

The survey by OnePoll found that the average drinker spends £39,480 buying rounds for friends and family during their lifetime; that equates to an average of £840 a year.

These impressively huge figures are proof that the pub industry is still going strong and that running a pub can be a great business opportunity. If you’d like to find out more, contact our recruitment team or have a look at our pubs to let.

Politicians back community pubs

by admin 4/21/2010 9:57:00 AM

With the election fast approaching, it’s good to know that politicians are recognising the important role of community pubs.

In a poll commissioned by the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA), 97 per cent of political candidates quizzed said they believed that the pub is an important part of British life, and 95 per cent agreed that pubs make a valuable contribution to the economy.

Most also said that they believe the pub is more important to communities than post offices, parish churches, village halls and community centres.

Admiral Tavern’s landlords work hard to establish their pubs at the heart of their community. If you’d like to find out about available pubs in your area, have a look at our pubs to let section.
