Shape up your pub menu with the Morning Advertiser

by admin 1/28/2011 2:37:00 PM

The Morning Advertiser is encouraging landlords to make it easier for pub goers to stick to their dieting New Year Resolutions by offering healthier food menus.

Market analysts him! recently revealed that 51% of customers would be more likely to eat pub food if there were healthier options available.

To ensure they’re not losing custom by offering a limited menu, landlords should consider cutting down on the fried food they offer and swapping the oil they use to cook. They can also try highlighting the more wholesome meals on their menu by printing the calorie content alongside it.

For more hints and tips from the Morning Advertiser, read the full article. If you’re an Admiral Taverns landlord who’d like advice on updating your menu, contact our My Pub Food Team.

Two-third pints measures to be introduced in pubs

by admin 1/7/2011 3:05:00 PM

The Government has confirmed plans to allow pubs to sell beer in two-third pints measures.

Pubs will also be able to sell wine in measures under 75ml and fortified wine in under 50ml and 70ml, meaning the new legislation will allow landlords to offer much greater flexibility and more choice to their customers.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills said it would be introducing the changes in the coming Parliamentary session.

The Morning Advertiser is looking for feedback on whether landlords think their customers would welcome two-third pints measures - email john.harrington@william-reed.co.uk with your opinions and read the full story on the Morning Advertiser website.

Fundraising landlords rewarded with Achievement Award

by admin 1/4/2011 3:41:00 PM

New landlords Rod Smith and Brenda Davidson of the Brewery Tavern in Oldham, who have dedicated considerable time and effort to raising funds for a popular local charity, have become the latest recipients of an Achievement Award.

They have raised over £1,300 for local charity Pennine Pen Animal Rescue in the last three months by regularly running events like drag nights, raffles and tombola. The pair, who took over the pub in September, also donate to the charity from their food profits and are planning another fundraising event on Sunday 16th January to coincide with Brenda’s birthday.

Rod and Brenda’s fun loving approach to running the Brewery Tavern has established the pub as the hub of the community, and has also seen them make a valuable contribution to a worthy charity.
